KMC Spedition OG - Case Study

KMC Spedition OG (KMC) is a logistics company with more than ten years of experience on the European transport market. They provide the highest flexibility, reliability, and personal support across their services, which includes courier and special trips, line haul, part and full truck load, and project cargo. Hereby, KMC has a strong mission to further digitalize their business with target to provide best possible and seamless services to their customers and enable a future proof way of working for their teams.

To achieve this mission KMC had to face several challenges in their on-premises infrastructure, including the need to reduce operational overhead, costs, and complexity. KMC is eager to open the door for new technologies that further enable its business and want to benefit from the flexibility and scalability of Amazon Web Services (AWS), enable their employees to work from anywhere, and modernize their infrastructure to support future growth.

To address these challenges, Auvaria supported KMC with the migration of their on-premises infrastructure to AWS and introduced a solution that enables their teams to work from anywhere in a seamless way. Hereby, Auvaria provided a clear cost visibility through a detailed total cost of ownership calculation for running the infrastructure in scope on AWS to validate the business case for moving to the cloud. Auvaria further developed a tailored solution architecture utilizing AWS services such as Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, AWS Backup, Amazon CloudWatch, and more that enables KMC to benefit from the flexibility and reliability AWS provides, migrated the existing infrastructure, and implemented Amazon WorkSpaces to enable their employees to work from anywhere.

In addition, Auvaria also provided a landing zone solution using AWS Control Tower including AWS IAM Identity Center. The landing zone provides a secure baseline environment, which is essential when managing multiple AWS accounts. The landing zone streamlines the management of the accounts and reduces the time and effort required to deploy and manage the solution.

Overall, with the solution provided KMC reduced their infrastructure costs by roughly 35% and employees have been provided with high-performing Amazon WorkSpaces for their daily work from anywhere, which further supports the company culture of KMC to be a modern and digitalized logistics company that stays ahead of the curve.
